“Fortune is in our own hands”—a phrase familiar to many. Yet not everyone has a clear understanding of how to take control of one’s destiny or shape one’s future. In my view, work is the sole avenue through which each of us can realize our true potential. In that sense, work is the fundamental determinant of our fate, and the workplace is the arena where we can truly demonstrate our value. Only by performing our jobs well can we earn the recognition of others—and only then can we genuinely seize control of our future and chart the course for our long-term development.
When asked, “Who exactly are you working for?” many people—especially ordinary frontline employees—tend to see themselves simply as wage earners. As a result, they approach their work, their roles, and their organizations with the mindset of “doing only what I’m paid for,” treating their jobs merely as a means to complete tasks and earn a living.
Yet some employees adopt a different attitude: to them, work is not just about salary—it is also a platform for their own development and growth. Every task presents an opportunity to enhance one’s skills; after all, work is not for others—it is for oneself.
Employees who adopt this mindset strive for excellence and perfection in their work. They take the initiative to learn and explore, fully recognizing the critical role the organization plays in their personal and professional development. As a result, they tend to be more loyal and more committed to their teams than their peers.
Gao Jungang is a male native of Nanhe County, Xingtai City, Hebei Province, and is highly proficient in the operation of plasma equipment. Since joining Hebei Dongfeng Shijing Formwork Co., Ltd. in February 2019, he has been working in the CRCC workshop, performing CNC plasma (flame) cutting and material preparation as a team leader, thereby demonstrating the true value of his life through his dedicated work.
The embedded parts subject to CRCC certification by China Railway require high precision and must meet the certification standards. To ensure and meet production needs, the company recruited a large number of new employees in April this year; all new hires must undergo rigorous training before being assigned to their posts. In accordance with the Production Department’s unified requirements, Gao Jungang is personally mentoring five apprentices, providing patient, meticulous, and repeated hands-on instruction that covers both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. By the end of April, four of these apprentices had become capable of independently operating the intelligent embedded-parts production equipment without any quality issues. By the end of May, the entire team was able to operate the plasma cutting equipment independently. Subsequently, three more new employees were added, and Gao Jungang, as the shift supervisor, once again undertook the task of training them wholeheartedly and without reservation. Working overtime every day, he ensured the normal operation of the workshop’s intelligent equipment and the smooth execution of material-cutting production.
To ensure the quality of embedded parts and meet production targets, In June, the company acquired several new precision plasma units. Gao Jungang volunteered to work alongside after-sales technicians on installation, commissioning, and hands-on training to deepen his understanding of equipment operation. Within a short period, he mastered the use and maintenance of the new equipment and subsequently began training new employees in its operation. This has laid a solid foundation for ensuring high-quality manufacturing processes for railway products. 。

Gao Jungang’s spirit of selfless dedication, his relentless pursuit of personal growth to become a valuable employee, and his diligent commitment to learning are truly worthy of emulation by everyone. As an organization, we naturally place the highest value on and most eagerly seek out such employees. After all, it is precisely those who are loyal to the company, proactively prioritize the team’s interests, and consistently put the enterprise first that ensure strong organizational cohesion and steadily enhance our competitive edge. It is these kinds of employees who deserve the greatest recognition and appreciation.
