Hebei Dongfeng Shijing Rail Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Dongfeng Rail”) has officially entered into a strategic partnership with Inner Mongolia Road & Bridge to jointly undertake Section 07 of the civil engineering works for the Chuzhou section of the S10 Yangzhou–Huainan Expressway. This collaboration focuses on the construction of an intelligent girder yard, leveraging advanced smart production lines and mobile launching gantry technology to significantly enhance both the production efficiency and quality of 30-meter precast box girders, thereby providing strong impetus for the smooth completion and opening of this major transportation artery in eastern Anhui Province.

Project Background: S10 Yangzhou–Huai’an Expressway, Chuzhou Section

The S10 Yangzhou–Huainan Expressway is a key transportation project under Anhui Province’s 14th Five-Year Plan. The Chuzhou section of the route spans approximately 141.9 kilometers, with a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour and four lanes in each direction. Upon completion, the project will significantly enhance the interprovincial expressway network between Anhui and Jiangsu provinces and strengthen economic ties among Huainan, Chuzhou, and Yangzhou.

Section 07, as one of the project’s key control works, features a high proportion of bridges, placing extremely stringent requirements on the production capacity, dimensional accuracy, and durability of precast box girders.

Key Highlight: Intelligent Girder Yard Production Line

In response to the project requirements, Dongfeng Rail, leveraging its extensive expertise in rail equipment manufacturing, has custom-developed a smart girder yard solution specifically for Section 07:

1. Smart Production Line Layout

The precast yard is planned and constructed with independent, intelligent production lines, each equipped with a mobile pedestal system to create a circular, continuous production flow. Compared with traditional fixed pedestals, this layout enables seamless integration of processes such as rebar tying, concrete placement, steam curing, and prestressing grouting, resulting in an approximate 200% increase in production efficiency.

2. 30-meter Box Girder Moving Pedestal Construction Process

• Mobile production: A self-propelled mobile launching bed is used, enabling the box girders to automatically move between the curing area and the production area, thereby reducing the frequency of gantry crane transfers and lowering safety risks.

• Intelligent temperature-controlled curing: Equipped with an intelligent steam-curing system that continuously monitors temperature and humidity inside the curing shed, ensuring that 30-meter box girders achieve their design prestressing strength within 24 hours. This reduces the production cycle from the traditional 7–10 days to 3–4 days.

3. Digital Control

A girder yard information management and control platform has been implemented to conduct end-to-end data monitoring of critical processes such as rebar fabrication, concrete placement, and prestressing grouting, thereby achieving “one girder, one file” quality traceability and ensuring that each box girder is both structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing.

Subsequently, hundreds of millions of yuan were invested in workshop upgrades and renovations, as well as in the improvement of environmental protection equipment. As a result, wet dust collection and exhaust ventilation systems were developed, and new intelligent production lines for cranes and comprehensive intelligent equipment sets were implemented, thereby achieving intelligent and green manufacturing.
